KRS-One (born Kris Parker) was the leader of Boogie Down Productions, one of the most influential hardcore hip-hop outfits of the '80s. At the height of his career, roughly 1987-1990, KRS-One was known for his furiously political and socially conscious raps, which is the source of his nickname, "the Teacher."

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has been released from the Los Angeles burns centre where he was being treated after surviving a plane crash. Barker and disc jockey DJ AM were the only survivors of the accident. The burns centre said the 32-year-old drummer will continue being treated at home and is expected to fully recover over the next few months. Our prayers go out to all who lost their lives, to those who were injured, and all the families involved. Bless,
Friends D.A. Wallach and Max Drummey, Chester French seeks to prove that pop music can be at once challenging and accessible. Milwaukee-raised Wallach and Boston native Drummey quickly found a lot of shared ground in musical tastes and before long had recruited three other musicians into a band playing various campus functions, eventually moving in a direction heavily influenced by classic British Northern Soul. Over the summer both stayed in Cambridge, working hard at songwriting. But when school resumed, they realized that the material went way beyond the basic guitar-bass-drums-piano format of the band, and the duo continued the work themselves, Wallach handling most of the vocals, Drummey performing much of the music on an orchestra’s-worth of instruments, supplemented with the occasional specialist guest – and both taking production and engineering duties for recordings that melded both of their sensibilities and visions. Working along the way in a campus studio arranging, engineering and producing all sorts of sessions expanded the pair’s musical vocabulary and sense of recording innovation. With that wealth of resources at their command. Sometimes it was just a simple notion of combining sounds that might, or might not, work together. CHECK THE MYSPACE after the jump

Los Angeles, CA --- With much anticipation, U-N-I's "Soul Hop" music video premieres today, Wednesday, October 8th on MTV2, playing throughout the day. Featured as the Sucker Free Drop during Sucker Free Week on MTV2, "Soul Hop" will also be on MTVu's hourly rotation hitting college campuses across the nation. Director, Tomas Whitmore, also worked on U-N-I's "K.R.E.A.M." and "Beautiful Day" music videos receiving heavy play from MTV2 as well. Tagged a "one man pop band", 26-year-old Colin Munroe not only writes and produces his own material, he also plays all the instruments for it as well (reportedly, he plays multiple instruments simultaneously during his live stage show). Already credited on recordings from urban Canadian acts like Glenn Lewis and Saukrates, he's now set to drop his own self-created solo album, Don't Think Less of Me, featuring label support from US hitmaker Dallas Austin (TLC, Madonna, Monica). Look for his buzz to increase a thousand-fold, thanks to his impressive Kanye rip-off "I Want Those Flashing Lights".
